![]() Imagine if... a provocative Remix of history And so it is with Designers Remix Collection for Autumn 2004 - a series of provocative "What if?" associations: England - France, USA - Japan, Denmark - Greenland. These are designs with playful contrasts and a historic remix. Careless perfectionism rules with imagination, and the style is laid-back feminine. Loads of lilac and deep turquoise set the tone, like the sky over Greenland when night descends like an icy blanket. This calls for a spray of gold and coffee brown, while a creamy, white knit resembles hailstones on a roof during a blustery autumn day in Copenhagen. The figure is focused and feminine. Snug fitting jackets, deep necklines and knits that hug the body. The skirts are either ultra-short with a full, pleated effect, or show a clean Fifties cut at knee length. The fullness of the dark blue jeans suggests workers' overalls, and the well-worn effect completes the picture. The various elements are connected by stoic detail: a bronze-coloured leather collar on a thin black knit is reflected in French Moulin Rouge corsages with strings; a delectable form-fitting jacket over a dream of a full skirt that suggests the pompous draperies of a bygone British Empire - only hiked up sexily at the hips. |
